95 % of students are happy at JU

In October 2023, a survey was sent out by Student Health Care to all Jönköping University students. The survey was called “10 questions for you as a student” and examined JU students' experience of alcohol, drugs, sex, mental health and gambling. The results are now in!

Pleasingly, 95 per cent of the respondents stated that they are very happy or happy at JU. 79 per cent stated that they are feeling very well or well.

Fewer students are not drinking compared to previous years' studies. Of the Swedish students, 34.8 per cent answered that they do not drink alcohol, while the figure for international students is 32 per cent. 97 per cent stated that they do not use cannabis, and of those who do, 2 per cent were national and 10 per cent international students. Almost 99 per cent said they do not use other intoxicants.

When asked what they need more knowledge about, students answered relationships, STDs, hazardous alcohol consumption and mental health. It is seen that one challenge is loneliness, many students state that they have difficulty making friends.

How is this being addressed?

  • The Student Health Care enables more alcohol-free meeting places where students can meet and socialize
  • Work even more actively to raise awareness of mental health issues
  • Ensure that even more information on sexual health is available and increase access to nurses on campus

Here you can read the results in full (in Swedish) Pdf, 360.5 kB, opens in new window.

A big thank you to all the students who took the time to answer the survey and to provide important comments!
