Nikolas Kakela, PhD

Nikolas Kakela's research focuses on customization in manufacturing companies - from module-based product offerings to customer unique solutions - and the organizational challenges that customization entail. Particular focus is on learning in organizations and how customization can serve as a trigger for learning and knowledge development.

Nikolas was part of the three-year research project The Whispering Game where management of customer order specific information was studied. Lessons learned from the research project can be read about here. (Swedish)

His doctoral dissertation was defended in 2022. A news article about the dissertation can be read here

Nikolas is program manager for the bachelor programme Sustainable Supply Chain Management, as well as responsible for the courses Leading and Organizing, Research Methods and Communication, and Inquiry Methodology.
