MMTC Welcomes Visiting Scholar Harsh Taneja

Harsh Taneja will be visiting MMTC during May-June 2016 on the MMTC Visiting Scholar Fellowship Program.

Harsh is an Assistant Professor in Strategic Communication at the School of Journalism of University of Missouri in the U.S. His research focuses on media audiences, specifically the connections between media use and its associated social and institutional contexts. His research program explores these interests in a variety of empirical contexts, such as Global Patterns of Web Use, Cross Platform Digital News Use in the U.S., Digital News Usage in Elections in India and Bollywood’s overseas Box Office. Methodologically, these projects blend social network analysis with traditional regression methods. Harsh is also interested in the measurement of media exposure, from both a methodological and an institutional perspective. This research stream relies on qualitative analysis of media industry texts such as the trade press.

Harsh received his PhD in Media, Technology and Society from Northwestern University. Prior to his academic life, he worked in the marketing communications industry with stints in Indian Express, BBC Global News and ZenithOptimedia.
