The general aim of this study is to identify and describe the ethical values that are made visible in the caring encounter and its effects on the people involved. It is also aiming to synthesize those concepts identified and clarified in study 1-3 (empiric ethics) and applicability by analyzing them with normative ethics.
The thesis is divided in four studies:
Study I - To identify and describe the ethical values that is experienced by the older person in daily interaction with nurses in a ward for older people during caring encounters.
Study II - To identify and describe the governing ethical values that next of kin experience in interaction with nurses who care for elderly patients at a geriatric clinic.
Study III - The aim of this study was to identify the ethical values of the nurse´s which are visible through their behavior in the interaction with the elderly patient in caring encounters at a geriatric clinic
Study IV - The aim of this study is  to synthesize concepts identified and clarified in study 1-3 (empiric ethics) and applicability by analyzing them with normative ethics.
