About the program
This interdisciplinary program combines pedagogy and social sciences, focusing on sustainability and digital transformation in education. It acknowledges that education is undergoing significant changes due to globalization, the rapidly expanding EdTech market, digitalization, and innovative approaches to managing and implementing change processes. The programme prepares you to develop sustainable educational strategies that address society's evolving needs.
You will gain a solid foundation of theoretical and practical perspectives integrating technological, pedagogical, and social aspects to tackle current and future challenges. Ethical and social issues, participation, inclusive learning design, and leadership are emphasized and linked to social sustainability across various educational contexts.
Practical experience and collaborations
During the programme, you will take in-depth courses focusing on learning, digitalisation, and sustainability – all aimed at deepening your understanding of digital transformation and sustainable solutions. As part of the course DIP2, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a learning organisation and apply your knowledge in a real-world context.
The programme is web-based and includes both synchronous and asynchronous seminars and assignments. The synchronous seminars bring all students together in a digital setting for discussions and knowledge exchange – a valuable and enriching part of the learning experience.
You can choose to study for one or two years. If you opt for the two-year track, which builds on and deepens the first year, there is also the opportunity to study abroad.
The master programme in Education, Learning, Digitalization, and Sustainability (LeaDS) is offered within the educational context of Social Sciences of Sustainability at the School of Education and Communication in collaboration with the master programmes in Sustainable Communication (SusCom) and Sustainable Societies and Social Change (GlobalS).
After graduation
Upon graduation, you will have the skills to create and implement sustainable education strategies. Career opportunities include roles as an educational strategist, where you can develop new learning models, or as a digitalization specialist, leading digital transformation in education. You may also work on developing policies related to education and sustainability.
The program also qualifies you for further study at the postgraduate level and provides a solid foundation for working in both national and international education environments.
