Major investment in AI research at the School of Engineering

The Knowledge Foundation grants SEK 13,5 million to the research and education environment SPARK at the School of Engineering, Jönköping University.

The Knowledge Foundation grants SEK 12.3 million to the AI ​​project ETIAI within the research and education environment SPARK at the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU).

Approves SPARK´s operational plan

In mid-December, it was announced that the Knowledge Foundation approves SPARK´s operational plan for 2024 and grants a total of SEK 13.5 million to three projects within the research and education environment. In addition to the synergy project ETIAI (Efficient and trustworthy AI), the Knowledge Foundation contributes SEK 610,000 to an international visiting professorship in molded products and SEK 546,000 to an adjunct from Husqvarna linked to electron microscopy.

“We are extremely happy that the Knowledge Foundation and SPARK has chosen to support our project. Among other things, we will study how to test and quickly develop safe and reliable software that implements AI methods. The implementation and testing of data-driven systems for decision support is a major challenge for many companies today,” says Lars Carlsson, Head of Department of Computing at JTH and project manager for ETIAI.
