The research, education, and collaboration at the School of Education and Communication aim to contribute new perspectives to what we already know and to open up innovative platforms for knowledge, interaction, and communication.

Research on the conditions for learning and communication is conducted within six research environments, based on the research profile Educommunication.

EduCom: Educommunicating Social Sustainability

The EduCom research profile is a broad framework designed to encompass concepts and theories from the six research environments at the School of Education and Communication at Jönköping University. Its aim is to integrate the school’s expertise in education and communication and to establish a new, combined, and interdisciplinary profile that promotes research in educommunication, addressing both local and global challenges related to social sustainability.

We have research-trained staff in a range of subjects within media and communication studies, behavioral sciences, social sciences, humanities, theology, and natural sciences. The School of Education and Communication also offers postgraduate education in learning and communication.

Jönköping University is entitled to award doctoral and licentiate degrees within the humanities and social sciences.

Research environments

The Swedish acronym ULF stands for Utbildning (Education), Lärande (Learning) and Forskning (Research) and is a national project commissioned by the Swedish government. The aim is to develop an infrastructure with long-term sustainable collaboration models between academia and schools to strengthen the disciplinary foundation and the disciplinary approach in schools.
