Jönköping University Digital Exams project has started

Project JUDiTe (Jönköping University Digital Tentamen) started in March 2017. The main purpose of the project is to establish the preconditions for introducing digital exams on a large scale at Jönköping University.

The introduction of digital exams concerns written exams carried out at Jönköping University. Some exams are already done digitally at Jönköping University today and the project objective is to establish the conditions for introducing digital exams on a larger scale.

‑ The thought is to digitalise the whole process: The exams will be constructed, performed, assessed and administrated digitally. Digital exams will hopefully make a lot of things easier for both teachers, students and administrative staff, says Lisanne Groot, Project leader.

Expected positive effects

There are a number of positive effects expected when introducing digital exams:

Expected positive effects for students

  • Increased comfort and a more relaxed feeling when using their own computers.
  • Increased legal certainty through minimal loss of completed exams.

Teachers will get tools to construct better structured and more easily-read essay exams. The assessment work will be more flexible and time efficient. The exam coordination staff will save time with a more effective process.

Project status

The next step in the project is to sign the agreement with the chosen system supplier. During the upcoming autumn several pilot tests will prove, among other things, the system design, procedures, information, training and premises for digital exams at JU. The project is planned to be complete in June 2018.
