JU Summer School gives international students a taste of Sweden

During the month of June, 44 international students took part in JU Summer School at Jönköping University (JU). Alongside courses at the School of Engineering, they got to experience Swedish culture through activities such as Swedish food tastings and Midsummer celebrations. For Asish Moturu from Singapore, JU Summer School delivered more than he had bargained for.

“I think JU surpassed all my expectations. I’ve had a really good time. We have had a lot of good experiences, a lot of memorable ones, and made good friendships that will last a long time. JU Summer School was also perfectly aligned with Midsummer, so that whole week was very nice with making flower wreath crowns and the outdoor celebrations with the locals. It was fun to take part in Swedish culture,” says Asish Moturu.

Katie Stanger-Leathes from England looks back on the time as both educational and filled with new encounters.

“The past few weeks have been really enjoyable and such a great opportunity. We’ve had a lot of classes and learning experiences that have been very beneficial. It’s been great meeting people from all over the world, getting to know about different cultures and at the same time learning more about yourself,” she says.

JU Summer School concluded with a mingle and a diploma ceremony, giving the students a final opportunity to reflect on a period filled with new experiences, friendships and lasting memories.
