"Make the most of your days off"
This summer, Jönköping University (JU) is offering a dose of inspiration. Every week, staff from different parts of JU share their top summer tips – everything from hidden gems and day-trip destinations to personal favourites for relaxation and that holiday feeling. This tip comes from Jonna Åstrand, who graduated from the School of Education and Communication this year.

What are your plans for this summer?
This summer I’ll be working in the communications department at Jönköping University, which I’m really looking forward to, but apart from that I don’t have many plans yet. I’m going to try to make the most of my free weekends and just enjoy myself whenever I can. I’m thinking of maybe going away for a week in August – maybe going on a train trip around Europe or booking a last-minute holiday somewhere warm.

"The Midsummer's Eve celebrations are always great fun," says Jonna.
Do you have a favourite spot in Jönköping or the surrounding area?
I think strawberries are one of the best things about summer, so my top tip is to go strawberry picking in Axlarp. They have the tastiest strawberries – at least, if you ask me. It’s situated between Jönköping and Nässjö, and it’s a really lovely activity to do either on your own or with someone else.
What’s your best summer tip?
My best summer tip is to make the most of your days off and dare to do things on your own, without company. You grow so much as a person, and you usually learn something new about yourself along the way too.
