Akio’s research interests are media economics, productivity analysis, regulatory economics and retail distribution. During his visit at MMTC Akio worked on his research in the field of public broadcasting and supplier system in content industries and had a very interesting research seminar entitled “A Marketing Strategy to Promote Media Management in Japan”. During the seminar Akio talked about the reasons why media management studies have not been active in Japan although media businesses themselves have not stagnated. He presented several possible strategies for Japan to promote research activities in academics and businesses.
