The ESREA conference seeks to develop a sense of interconnectivity among life-based and arts-based narrative research, around the potential for individual but also collective transformations that might be triggered or chronicled by research. It will also be attentive to weaving into our work previous themes of our conferences: embodiment and narrative, critical reflection, social change, agency.

The loose umbrella of the sixth biannual Nordic conference of adult education and learning is the place and function of adult education in a planetary perspective. It invites researchers to discuss their topics and results in the tension-field of local and global. Contributions relating adult education to social, economical, ecological and cultural issues are especially welcome, but the conference is open to all interested in encounters and dialogues within the Nordic adult education community.

Vuxna har livserfarenhet, vana vid eget ansvar och andra tidsprioriteringar än ungdomar. Ändå talas det sällan om vuxnas lärande. I den pedagogiska diskussionen är det ungdomarnas behov och utmaningar som dominerar. Det vill ViS ändra på. Därför handlar 2015 års konferens om vuxnas lärande.

How can the progressive and innovative academic and professional international community contribute in 2015 to the better understanding of the expansion of the educational landscape? The traditional classroom (four walls, one teacher, the learners and a few learning resources) is no longer an ideal place for education. The theme of this conference invites contributors to explore alternatives to the ubiquity of neoliberal market managerialism in all its many guises.  Critical Management Studies has been effective at mounting a critique of various elements of managerialist ideology, but less effective at exploring and promoting different ways of thinking about organizing and markets.
