Boel Andersson Gäre

Boel’s research interests are linked to applied practice with perspectives on quality, safety and value with a focus on the lived realities of those which health and welfare organisations serve.

Boel research interest began when working as a specialist in paediatrics and observing the lack of patient and family voices in the evaluation of health outcomes and experiencing the gap between science and practice. This led to her studies in epidemiology and outcomes research in paediatric chronic disease and development of patient reported outcomes. During her experience in leadership positions, Boel was inspired from the systematic improvement work developed in international collaboration in the Jönköping Region and her research interest expanded to exploring how improvement and value creation in health and welfare could be understood in a deeper sense and systematically applied.

She has led several broad, multidisciplinary research programs, all with an interactive approach aiming at joint learning for all involved - bridging gaps between academia and practice. She is one of the founders of the Jönköping Academy for Improvement of Health and Welfare, with the aim to develop the emerging field of improvement science and a founder of the European Centre for Co-production.

Professionally, she finds great joy in the teaching and learning together with masters and PhD students and being an active part of broad national and international networks who share the compassion for understanding how to achieve the vision, “health for all”.
